Introduction
For the past six years, I’ve been part of Equinox Studios Creative Industrial Complex in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle. I share my studio with my husband, who is a mixed media artist. I own a business that teaches kids drama, which keeps me busy, but allows me some flexibility to get in to the studio. My work varies from colorful pottery to political sculptures to emotional health devices. My physical and emotional health depends on my getting elbow-deep in clay on a weekly basis, and I’m able to sell most of my works right out of my studio.

What I Love about Ceramics
It teaches me so many lessons, including that creativity moves through us like water in a river bed, we don’t own it but we can open ourselves to it. It also keeps my forearms strong so that I don’t get tendonitis.

How I started with ceramics
Columbus Ohio has a wonderful clay studio system through their parks and rec. Took classes for 8 years before putting my own studio together.

My Artist Statement
I have been elbow-deep in clay since the early 90s, and have taught clay occasionally since then. I work primarily in low-fire white so that my forms can be a canvas. I love michima using antique doilies and lace. I also love sculpting faces and experimenting with low-fire crystals. I throw on my 1970s Pacifica Laguna, and I also have a hand-made Leach wheel that I do public demos on.
