About Me

Introduction	Oritatami Nendo” folding clay© Hando Purinto Nendo: hand printed clay© Jodi’s journey began in 1967 when she ventured from her native Canada to explore Europe and the Far and Middle East. The colors and textures of Taiwan and Bangladesh, as well as the rich patters intertwined in the histories of Africa and European countries became part of her soul. Jodi is a self-taught artist whose talent emerges in every piece she creates. Inspired by nature, she utilizes a process call “Oritatami Nendo: folding clay”. Her unique style resonates across all cultures and styles. It is rare for an artist to fully recreate the intimate connection we all feel to nature and earth, but through her use of natural and environmentally safe materials and her eye for design, Jodi manages to do just that. It is not unusual to see people smelling and touching her work. Jodi encourages her clients to arrange wall installations so they are part of the creative journey. “I fell in love with texture then discovered clay.” Jodi said. I combined the two and now I just can’t stop. Finding new materials can take your work in directions you never dreamed of. I discovered stainless steel thread and wax covered hemp and this gave me the opportunity to create endless lengths and heights of work.” She has experienced overseas residencies in Africa, the Far and Middle East and across Europe. Her work as a visual artist has opened doors for her to become a national curator and juror, and she is represented in Washington DC, Houston, Texas, New York City, Arizona and Oklahoma and London, UK.

How I started with ceramics	I’ve been an artist most of my adult life, I’m 74, and I was looking for a new medium. I just kept my original look and added ceramics to it.
