i have not made my own glazes before and I am not sure if the ones I did last night count because they were premixed. I just had to add water and colourants. So I got a clear matte glaze, a clear glossy glaze, and added five colourants to each. I added one cup of the mixed glaze and 2 tsp of colourants to each.
What is flux? My Alberta slip says I need to add a flux to it so it can melt at >6. What am I supposed to add? I will test these this week to see what I did.
And yes, I know it is supposed to be done by percentages but I dont actually understand that math but I do understand cups and teaspoons. So we will see what happens. Perhaps I will hate what I did. Perhaps I will love it. I am glad I did it. One more “boundary” I have broken and I will figure out the math in the future. Lol.
I am a very experimental potter.(my brother would say emphasis on the mental. Lol Brothers, amiright?) And I dont take proper notes, so everything I do is an experiment and I rarely get the same thing twice. Cant decide if that is good or bad. It just is for me.

Ashley talks about this in one of the Personal Space Meetups -11/08/25 I think? This is a good one to go back and rewatch if you’re wanting to explore making your own glazes.
I attached the raw material spreadsheet he posted and it has Flux on it. Basically, flux lowers the melting point of silica.
