About Me

Introduction

I stumbled into pottery in college—literally. I tripped over a kick wheel, got hooked, and ended up running the campus studio in exchange for room and board. Then I took a 40-year detour through military aviation, computer programming, and project management. I even taught others how to manage projects, which is ironic because clay rarely listens.

Since retiring in 2019, I’ve returned to ceramics with the kind of obsession usually reserved for crossword puzzles and sourdough starters. I work from a home studio in Newtown Square, PA, where I make pieces that are useful, joyful, and just imperfect enough to prove they weren’t made by a machine. I’ve taken courses—including glaze chemistry—and I’m always experimenting, adapting, and sharing what I learn.

The Ceramic School has ignited another passion, and that is collaborative projects! Drop me a linLet’s do one together.

What I Love about Ceramics

L love lots of things about ceramics, st brings firm and shape to your imagination. You can make almost any functional thing in your life like mugs, plates, pitchers, planters, baking vessels, mixing bowls… you could even make sinks and toilets! It is crazy and fulfilling.

How I started with ceramics

I started in university, but pursued other career opportunities for over 40 years. But I’ve come back and now completely consumes my time.

What inspires me

I like all kinds of ceramics, but find myself combining wheel thrown vessels with handbuilt sculptures of whimsical beasts and organic shapes with a nature theme.
