About Me
| Introduction | I live in Lindsay, Ontario in Canada. I still make sculptural work, but also create functional mugs, platters and other items with whimsical drawings of animals and other nature so you smile when you use it. I am playing with using silkscreens to make overlapping images and still experimenting with the perfect glaze. I also want to invent “glazing goggles” so I know how something will turn out as I glaze an item and know how it will turn out. Wouldn’t we all love a pair?
|
| What I Love about Ceramics | I don’t really know as it is frustrating and there is so much loss, but it is addictive and I seem to approach all other art forms (lino cutting, silk screen, painting) with a view of how I can apply it to ceramics. It’s an obsession and I spend my spare time (I still work full time as a web designer) making stuff. |
| How I started with ceramics | I started working in pottery over 20 years ago after taking a sculpture course in the UK, and when I moved back to Canada in 2002, I started taking classes with an idea to sculpting and learning how to fire pieces, and got hooked. |
| What inspires me | New techniques, other ceramic artists who make fun, innovative items. I also would love to be able to sculpt animals better as I do love them. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | I am trying to make some new low fire work with slips, as I love the look. |
