About Me
| Introduction | Warm greetings to the vibrant Ceramic School Community!
I am thrilled to connect with all of you who share a deep passion for creativity and the art of ceramics. I am an art enthusiast from Ankara, Turkey.
|
| What I Love about Ceramics | Ceramics captivates me for its unique blend of artistry and tactile experience. I am drawn to the versatility of ceramics, from intricate aesthetic items to subversive art objects, all exemplifying the beauty of human imagination and creation. The enchanting magic of glazing infuses each art object I create with character, vibrancy, and my personal touch, making every piece truly unique. Moreover, working with ceramics provides a meditative quality, allowing me to connect deeply with the materials and the creative process. |
| How I started with ceramics | My art journey began with oil painting and stone sculpture, and it beautifully evolved into my passion for clay ceramics. I have always been particularly drawn to three-dimensional art. |
| What inspires me | I am captivated by how ceramics bridges personal expression, technical knowledge, and artistry, harmonizing creativity with skill. Additionally, the transformative power of clay – from a humble lump to a refined and bespoken piece – mirrors my own artistic journey. I draw motivation from the works of fellow ceramic artists; their unique approaches inspire me to explore new techniques and innovative concepts. |
| What I'm working on at the moment | Currently, I work in my private art atelier in Ankara and Datça, focusing on deepening my knowledge of the world of clay and ceramics. My forthcoming (mixed) exhibition will take place in Ankara, TR on the 25th of March 2025. My current art concept revolves around mandalas, the circle of life, and the trees of life. |
| My Artist Statement | Art serves as my inner voice and a testament to my quest for freedom. |
| My CV | Originally an orthodontist based in Ankara, Turkiye, I dedicated 30 years to my profession while nurturing my passion for art. Art has always been a significant part of my life. My art journey began with oil painting and stone sculpture, and it beautifully evolved into my passion for clay ceramics. I have always been particularly drawn to three-dimensional art. I pursued both theoretical and practical master’s classes across two different art faculties, engaging in hands-on workshops and atelier sessions. This immersion allowed me to partake in practical and inspirational endeavors that significantly enriched my artistic journey. Since 1993, I have held 12 exhibitions, both private and mixed, showcasing my work in oil painting and sculpture at various art galleries in Ankara and Istanbul. For each of my exhibitions, I explored different aspirations and conceptual passions that resonated with me at that time. After becoming acquainted with the ceramic wheel in various ateliers, I continue to deepen my expertise in ceramic glazing and explore different ceramic techniques. Currently, I work in my private art atelier, focusing on deepening my knowledge of the world of clay and ceramics. |
