My name is Sandra Henzen and I, at 60 years young, stand at the intersection of a life rich in diverse experiences. My journey unfolds like a patchwork quilt, woven with threads of passion, creativity, and an unwavering curiosity for the world around me.
In the earlier chapters of my life, I immersed myself in the pastoral pursuits of a breeder—tending to the graceful Angora goats and rabbits. This chapter, marked by the rhythm of nature and the nurturing of delicate fibers, laid the foundation for a deep connection with the tactile world.
However, life’s tapestry is ever-evolving, and so was mine. Shifting gears, I seamlessly transitioned from the realm of textile design into the enchanting world of ceramics later in life. A chance encounter with clay became a pivotal moment, setting ablaze a newfound passion. The delicate touch and transformative nature of porcelain resonated with me, and thus, a clay artist was born.
Italy, with its timeless beauty and artistic legacy, became my new home. Living amidst the rolling hills of Monzuno, I immersed myself in the cultural tapestry of the region. Here, against the backdrop of Italy’s artistic heritage, my journey in ceramics took deeper roots.
Now, as the start of a new chapter, I have established a home studio in Monzuno, a sanctuary where creativity knows no bounds. Come 2024, the studio and the wheels of creation will turn once more.
