I’m a potter based in Atlanta, GA. Amidst the constant state of chaos and busy-ness we experience in our modern world, clay gives me the opportunity to pause and truly connect with the earth. I’m an avid lover of the outdoors and draw most of my inspiration from natural elements, specifically coastal areas, which you see reflected in many of my glaze combinations. My hope is that by creating joyful, nature-inspired pieces that are not locked away in a cabinet, but used daily, my pieces can serve as a constant reminder to stay intentional and focus on what truly brings you joy in your daily life.
Having always been drawn to art and it’s many different forms, I took my first ceramics class in my senior year of college while completing a BFA in Design at Appalachian State University, but it wasn’t until my 30s that I truly discovered my relationship with clay. After some adventurous post-graduate years traveling around the world, living in Denmark, then moving to San Francisco for several years, I landed back to my Southern roots in Atlanta. Still always having the urge to work with clay, I began taking night classes at a local fine arts center in 2018. It was through those long nights in the studio that I learned how to truly connect with clay. Ceramics isn’t only an outlet for creative expression, but also a therapeutic outlet that keeps me centered in daily life. When the pandemic began in 2020 and the local studio shut down for a while, I purchased my own wheel and began carving out a dedicated space in my garage to build my own studio. Now, I have a full home studio and continue to find refuge in each aspect of the ceramic process.
I currently live in Atlanta with my husband and daughter, Sunny (the inspiration behind the name), our pup and our three cats. When I’m not in my studio, you can find me out in nature, most likely near the ocean or on a lake. I love swimming, paddleboarding, and surfing and live for the long, hot summer days and warm nights that we get here in the South. In addition to making pottery and ceramics, I am the co-founder and Creative Director of branding agency, The Look & The Feel, and an award-winning graphic designer.
