BIOGRAPHY
Current – Studio owner, Atelier Larose MTL, Montreal QC
I work mostly with clay slabs & coils. I apply textures via carving, stamps & found objects; and colours through underglaze layering, stained slips, resists & transfers. I explore natural themes through hand-cut stencils. I am pursuing two separate bodies of work; the first is colourful functional ware; the second is a series of sculptures based on Quebec Laurentians glacial erratics (boulders left behind when ice-age glaciers retreated) and the icebergs of the Canadian North.
Sculptor Pierre Klein and I plan to collaborate in combining his wood & rusted metal sculptures with my ceramics.
In summer 2022, I will join a group studio in the Lachine Canal Complex to have access to large kilns and develop a collection of glazes for my Erratics sculptures.

RESIDENCIES
• April-May 2022 – Invited six-week self-directed residency at the John Bauer Ceramic Studio & Gallery, Cape Town, South Africa. During my stay, I built ten Glacial Erratic scale models; attended a weekend workshop on alternative firing techniques; made tiles for, and participated in, the 25th Porterville Mosaic Festival; taught a three-hour workshop on designing one’s own underglaze paper transfers; and had an exit solo exhibit at the Bauer Gallery in the Montebello Design Centre.
I also interviewed South African ceramic artists Sandile Cele and Lissa Classens for Ceramics Monthly. Finally, I visited several established pottery studios and galleries to learn more about their practices.
