About Me
| Introduction | I am a new potter, recently retired, worked in retail/restaurant and am pursuing ceramics as a long lost dream. I have been taking classes since March 2022 and my home studio is almost complete. I love both hand building and wheel throwing. |
| What I Love about Ceramics | I get lost in making mud into art. I love making the useful, beautiful (if I succeed!) |
| How I started with ceramics | As a graphic design major in college I was able to take one pottery class – fell in love but hit the ceiling of opportunity at my school. Since it’s no easy hobby, I was not able to pick it back up again until now. |
| What inspires me | imperfection, organic edges and surfaces, unpredictability of how it will turn out |
| What I'm working on at the moment | Continuing to challenge myself on the wheel and handbuilding. I’m trying to do more texture and alteration of my wheel thrown pieces since that’s really my happy place. My studio is in my garage, with the often visiting cats, dogs and chickens for company. |
| My Artist Statement | ooof. I have not found myself yet, as a potter. I hope that in time, my clay persona will emerge. |
| My CV | Opened a restaurant in 1995, still own it! |
